Freddie J. Bagley, president and CEO of Community Bancshares Inc., delivered that message in his keynote address for the DeSoto Economic Development Council’s First Quarterly Luncheon.
"The economic cycle is alive and well," Bagley told a crowd of about 300 gathered at the DeSoto Civic Center.
Bagley’s assessment of the slowly rebounding economy did include a sobering caveat.
"We have experienced and we are still experiencing the worst economic downturn in the last 50 years," Bagley said. "The Memphis area is one of the top four hardest hit by the economic downturn."
